Jean Beresian

He is a staff anesthesiologist at American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) specialized in cardiovascular and thoracic anesthesia. He graduated medical school from AUB and completed a year of internal medicine followed by anesthesia residency at AUBMC. His fellowship was focused on minimal invasive cardiac procedures at OLV Hospital in Belgium with special emphasis on transesophageal echocardiography (TEE). He is a board certified by the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE). He has joined AUBMC in 2015 and is the director of Pre admission unit since 2016.

His clinical interest also includes anesthesia for minimal invasive cardiac procedures and regional anesthesia. He has a special passion for resident education with special focus on TEE teaching. He has been part of several workshops and mini courses related to TEE and regional anesthesia.

Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Doyle was a Professor of Anesthesiology at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University. He has a longstanding interest in Ear, Nose, Throat (ENT) anesthesia and difficult airway management, as well as the use of technology in medicine.

Dr. Doyle’s interest in research has been supported by a number of funding agencies and he holds positions on multiple editorial boards. His inventions include US Patent No. 4,203,008, as well as some unpatented bioacoustics inventions.

Dr. Doyle received his medical degree in 1982 and his PhD in Biomedical Engineering in 1986, both from the University of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He received his Canadian Board Certification in Anesthesia (FRCPC) in 1986 and his American Broad Certification in 1989. Additionally, Dr. Doyle holds master's degrees in Engineering, Post-Secondary Education, and Medical Ethics.

Doctor Elmassian is a practicing anesthesiologist at McLaren Greater Lansing, Lansing, Michigan where he has served as Chairman, Department of Surgical Services, as well as the Director of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Anesthesiology. As a Clinical Professor at Michigan State University, he also is a faculty member of an accredited ACGME anesthesiology residency program.

Besides the leadership roles in his institution, Dr. Elmassian has been an outspoken advocate for anesthesiology, the practice of medicine, and for empowering patients and physicians in his multiple roles at local, state and national levels. He has served as President of his county medical society, and he was the first anesthesiologist in the Michigan State Medical Society’s one-hundred- and forty-seven-yearhistory to be elected President.

Dr. Elmassian has also served as President of the Michigan Society of Anesthesiologists and has been a long-standing member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists Board of Directors. Most notably, he was elected by the ASA House of Delegates to the role of ASA Secretary. In his leadership role on the ASA’s Administrative Council, he has had a focus on membership growth and experience and the business development of this 55,000-member organization.

Haroutyun Mangoyan

Professional career started in Erebuni medical Center where he consecutively worked as Anesthesiologist in Neurosurgery Department and Plastic Reconstructive Surgery Department and later as a Senior Intensive Care Specialist. In 2009 he was appointed as a Head of ICU and in 2013 as a Scientific Head. He is a Board Member of Armenian Society of Anesthesiologists and Intensive Care Specialists and Member of European Society of Anesthesiologists. Academic preferences are sepsis, principles of rational antibacterial therapy, subarachnoid hemorrhage management, ICU delirium, risk assessment and communication strategies in ICU and anesthesia. Author of 27 articles and abstracts, 3 national protocols, 1 national guideline, 2 textbooks and 1 manual.

Shobana Rajan

Dr. Rajan has been practicing Neuroanesthesiology for about 12 years. Her experience includes working in India as well as in the USA. She is currently working at Allegheny health network, Pittsburgh, USA and functions as the vice chair for education and Associate director for Neuroanesthesiology.

Her career in the USA started off with a neuroanesthesia fellowship at the Cleveland clinic with Dr. Rafi Avitsian which gave her great exposure to this specialty.

Dr. Rajan has been actively involved with both research and education in neuroanesthesiology. On the research front, she has a number of publications on Awake craniotomy, Dexmedetomidine, the use of remifentanil, etc. On the education front, she has been active in the area of creating online Learning management systems for resident education.

Dr. Rajan is a board member at the Society for Neuroanesthesiology and critical care where she leads the trainee engagement committee whose vision is opening minds to neuroanesthesia. She is a part of the team that publishes quizzes, creates podcasts etc at the SNACC. She is also an active member of the Society for education in anesthesia. She works as a council member for the International accreditation of Neuroanesthesia fellowships(ICPNT) which hopes to unify and standardize neuroanesthesia fellowships worldwide.

Dr. Rajan is the editor of two Problem based anesthesiology books and an author in a number of book chapters.

Antonio Ramirez

He attended the University of Virginia of the completed his residency in Anesthesia at the University of Virginia Health System in Charlottesville, Virginia.

After residency, Dr. Ramirez began active duty with the United States Air Force. He held various positions the at the USAF base, RAF Lakenheath, in the United Kingdom. He was Medical Director, the Air Force Anesthesia Consultant for the European theatre and the Deputy Chief of Staff for the 48th Medical Group Hospital, Director of the Simulation Center and Medical Director of the Anesthesia Department.

After finishing his commitment to the Air Force, Dr. Ramirez came to the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. He became an assistant professor at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. He helped to reorganize the Residency Curriculum and was voted Anesthesiologist of the Year in 2012 by the residents and fellows.

Dr Ramirez moved to Abu Dhabi to take part in the opening of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi in August of 2014. He has held numerous positions at CCAD including։ Director of the Pre Anesthesia Testing Clinic and the Post Anesthetic Care Unit, Chair of the Emergency Medical Response Committee, Anesthesia Director of the Surgical and Procedural Operations Committee. Currently, he is the Director of the Anesthesia Residency Program.

Hamayak Sisakyan

He passed his undergraduate medical education and postgraduate residency at Yerevan State Medical University, Fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. He received his doctoral research degree in Moscow Medical Sechenov Academy. His teaching activities are related to the undergraduate and postgraduate education in cardiology, continuing medical education in cardiology and echocardiography. His main research activities are related to the study of remodeling in dilated cardiomyopathy, treatment of chronic heart failure, prognostic markers in acute myocardial infarction. He is currently involved is study of several new prognostic factors after acute myocardial infarction and in chronic heart failure. His clinical activities include management of acute and chronic cardiovascular patients, noninvasive cardiovascular diagnostics. He is the first, who invented cardiac MRI in clinical practice in Armenia.

He has many publications in peer-reviewed international journals. He is an author of several handouts in internal diseases and cardiology for undergraduate students. Professor Sisakian has been involved as Principal Investigator and/or National Coordinator in several randomized controlled trials and registries.
Professor Sisakyan is President of Armenian Cardiologists Association and Fellow of American Heart Association.
