The goal of the conference is to improve knowledge of the specialists on the pain management of patients after trauma acquired during the recent Artsakh conflict.

Dr. Talin Evazyan

Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine

Dr. Talin Evazyan is a board certified anesthesiologist and pain management specialist at the University of Southern California, in Los Angeles where she also serves as the director of the pain fellowship program. She received her undergraduate education from University of California, Los Angeles and completed medical school at the University of California, San Diego in 2007. She went on to train at the University of California, Los Angeles in the department on anesthesiology and stayed on to complete an American College of Graduate Medical Association accredited fellowship in chronic pain. Her practice consists of management of patients with complex sources of chronic pain using both medication management as well as interventional procedures including implantation of novel devices. She holds an active role in research, as well as teaching and mentoring of medical students, residents, and fellows at the University of Southern California.

Dr. Andrui Nazarian

Andrui Nazarian MD, MS, MSHCAM is a double-board certified anesthesiologist and pain management physician in Los Angeles, California. She completed her undergraduate studies at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with a physiological sciences major and Armenian studies minor. She then went on to Rosalind Franklin University of Medical Sciences, where she obtained a masters in healthcare management and administration, a masters in biomedical sciences, as well as a doctorate in medicine degree from Chicago Medical School. She completed a 1 year internship at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) at Fresno, and subsequently went on to complete an anesthesiology residency at Harbor UCLA. Dr. Nazarian also completed a comprehensive fellowship in pain management at the University of California, Irvine (UCI).

Dr. Aram Shahinyan

Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine

Aram Shahinyan is a board-certified Anesthesiologist and Pain Management Physician. He was born in Armenia and received his medical degree from Yerevan State Medical University named after Mkhitar Heratsi. After completing his training in Anesthesiology and Critical Care in the same institution, he then moved to the United States, where he completed his Anesthesiology residency in Geisinger Medical Center and Pain Medicine fellowship in Cleveland Clinic. He is currently practicing in Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, Pennsylvania. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Anesthesiology. His clinical interests include neuropathic pain and neuromodulation therapies.

Dr. Avetis Avetisyan

Dr. Avetis Avetisyan, MD, PhD, graduated from the Yerevan State Medical University. He continued his residency in Neurology at the Department of Neurology of the same university. While serving in the army, he received a PhD degree on the topic "Influence of neuropathic pain syndrome on the quality of life of patients, depression, anxiety and sleep”. He was the Chairman of the of Young Scientists Association of YSMU, Vice-President of the Armenian Association for the Study of Pain. He is a member of over 10 local and foreign medical associations and organizations.  At present Dr. Avetisyan is the Director of Kanaker-Zeytun Medical Center and founder and president of the "Armenian Association of Pain Medicine

Dr. Bella Grigoryan

Neurology

Dr. Bella Grigoryan, MD, PHD, works for the University Hospital of Yerevan since 1999 doing EMG EP and Neurology Consultations. She has had two Fellowships in 1990, 1992 in Columbia Presbiterian Medical Center in New York at the departments of Neuromuscular Diseases, Rehabilition Medicine and the EMG lab, she has done several internships in different European Medical Institutions during last years. During 13 years (2003-2016) she was coordinating Salzburg International Medical Program in Armenia. She is the country representative in the European Academy of Neurology.

Dr. Garo Harmandayan, M.D. is a board-certified palliative care physician in Los Angeles California. Dr. Harmandayan graduated medical school from Saint Louis University School of Medicine and completed internal medicine residency at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center. He went on to specialize in hospice and palliative care at West Los Angeles Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Dr. Harmandayan is currently the Director of Cardiac Palliative Care at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Dr. Rafi Avitsian

Dr. Rafi Avitsian M.D. FASA, is a Professor of Anesthesiology in Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University and the program. He is the current president elect of Medical Staff Office of Cleveland Clinic, and the director for the neurosurgical anesthesiology fellowship program. He has served as the Vice Chair for Professional Development in the Department of General Anesthesiology and also the Section Head for the Neurosurgical Anesthesiology in Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. He is one of the founders, as well as executive board member, of International Council for Perioperative Neuroscience Training (ICPNT). He is the immediate past president of Society for Neuroscience in Anesthesiology and Critical Care (SNACC). He is an American Board of Anesthesiologists’ Applied Senior Examiner, as well as a member of the Association of University Anesthesiologists & recipient of ASA-SEA Distinguished Education Award. His academic interest is mostly in brain tumors, anesthetic methods for seizure surgery, brain protection and outcomes of spine surgery as well as Difficult Airway Management. His clinical studies are mostly directed to finding ways to improve the outcome of surgery after neurosurgical procedures. He is also interested in medical innovations with already filed as well as published patents. Dr. Avitsian is on the executive board of International Center for Professional Development (ICPD) in Armenia. More than 40 published peer reviewed manuscripts, two book chapters and many abstract presentations also highlights his academic achievements. He is on the editorial board of Journal of Neurosurgical Anesthesiology and Journal of Anesthesiology Clinical Pharmacology and an ad hoc reviewer for Anesthesiology, Anesthesia Analgesia, World Neurosurgery journal and International Anesthesia Research Society (IARS) annual meeting abstracts.

Dr. Raymond Tatevossian is a founding partner of Comprehensive Spine & Pain Physicians. He is a board-certified anesthesiologist with fellowship training in Pain Medicine from the USC Keck School of Medicine. Dr. Tatevossian has been practicing Pain Medicine for 11 years and has held the Chair of the Pain and Palliative Care at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center for the last 10 years. Dr. Revik Vartanian is a board-certified Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Pain Medicine physician, currently practicing at California Sports and Spine Institute. He offers patient-specific, comprehensive, and minimally invasive techniques to diagnose and alleviate pain utilizing both fluoroscopy (X-ray) and ultrasound. He is well-versed in both basic (epidural, facet joint, sacroiliac joint, medial branch, geniculate nerve, radiofrequency nerve ablation) and advanced interventional spine procedures (including lumbar decompressive procedures like MILD/Vertiflex, and neuromodulation), peripheral nerve/musculoskeletal procedures, and many regenerative medicine treatments. After completing her residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Southern California she continued with fellowship training in Pain Management at USC. Currently she practices at Kaiser Permanente in Baldwin Park as a board-certified Interventional Pain Management specialist. Her practice includes management of patients with acute and chronic pain using interventional procedures, as well as performing regional anesthesia in the perioperative setting. In her spare time, Dr. Evazyan enjoys cooking, reading, and staying physically active.
